Carunveiled – For those who pull, haul, or work with their hands, the 2026 Ford Super Duty need no introduction. It’s a tried-and-true workhorse that has competed with the Chevrolet Silverado HD and Ram HD for decades in the lucrative HD work truck market. Ultimately, buyers benefit from this grudge match since the ongoing state of one-upmanship strengthens the breed as a whole.
That means a robust vehicle with a variety of cab and bed options, as well as two gasoline engines and the massive Power Stroke diesel V-8 in two levels of tune, with the latter producing up to 500 horsepower and 1200 pound-feet of torque. The most capable design is available in F-250, F-350, and F-450 varieties, with a maximum towing capability of 40,000 pounds and a payload rating of 8000 pounds.
If that sounds fine, but a little luxury would make the working a little less stressful, purchasers may select from a variety of comforts, like a two-tone leather interior and nap-friendly Max Recline seats that allow you to get some shut-eye when the boss isn’t around.
What’s New for the 2026 Ford Super Duty?
Ford has made modest changes and shifted choices throughout the lineup for the 2026 Ford Super Duty. The 6.8-liter gas V-8 engine is now standard on the XLT and Lariat, and it works with a 10-speed transmission. The 2-kW Pro Power Onboard configuration is now offered on King Ranch and Platinum trims, while the Onboard Scale system and Smart Hitch are now available on King Ranch, and a trailer brake controller is now optional on XL trim.
The Super Cab option is now confined to the XL and XLT SRW with an 8-foot box. Individual tire pressure monitoring for trailers is now available, and supplementary cameras can be added for a better view. The Platinum trim has been revised to include a Black Onyx cabin with Platinum Blue highlights and black exterior trim, while the Lariat has received new seating material.
The new Platinum Plus package features chrome trim, special leather upholstery, and color palettes. Finally, two new colors are added to the lineup: Avalanche and Ruby Red Metallic Tinted Clearcoat.
2026 Ford Super Duty Interior, Comfort, and Cargo
Those looking for the base XL trim should expect a very spartan cabin, but the remainder of the Super Duty series offers a more fashionable surroundings. Better convenience and luxury amenities become available as you progress through the trim levels, and Ford has designed front seats that can recline to a nearly flat position, allowing drivers to rest properly when halted overnight on long-distance travels.
Buyers can choose between a normal cab, an extended SuperCab, or a four-door SuperCrew cab with two bed widths (a 6.8-footer or an eight-foot box). On models with bucket seats, a large center-console bin stands out among the Super Duty’s numerous cubbies and versatile trays. A lockable locker behind the rear seat in the crew cab expands storage options.
Entertainment and connectivity
The base XL variant includes an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, while more pricier models have a 12.0-inch display. A customizable 12.0-inch digital gauge cluster is also available. A pair of huge volume and tuning knobs, as well as other physical buttons on the steering wheel, contribute to the system’s natural feel.
The rest of the lineup has a 12.0-inch touchscreen with Sync 4 software, which incorporates wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Larger cabs can accommodate enough accessory outlets to light up a Guns N’ Roses concert, including up to two 110-volt power outlets. All models feature a Bang & Olufsen-tuned sound system. A 640-watt, eight-speaker configuration is standard, with a 1080-watt, 18-speaker option.
2026 Ford Super Duty Engine and Performance
The Super Duty’s base XL model level features a standard 6.8-liter V-8 engine with 400 horsepower and 445 pound-feet of torque. A more powerful 7.3-liter V-8 with 430 horsepower and 485 pound-feet of torque is also available; it comes standard on the XLT and higher. Of course, every F-250, F-350, and F-450 may be outfitted with the crown jewel of the 2026 Ford Super Duty lineup: the Power Stroke diesel 6.7-liter V-8.
This oil-burner produces either 475 horsepower and 1050 pound-feet or 500 horsepower and 1200 pound-feet, with both low- and high-output models available. A beautiful 10-speed automatic transmission handles gearchanges for all configurations, and clients can select between single- or dual-rear-wheel axles.
The 2026 Ford Super Duty also comes with an off-road package called Tremor, which includes a lift kit, meatier tires, and other trail-ready modifications. These heavy-duty Fords function as one would expect from huge trucks capable of towing up to 19 tons. When the bed is empty, the ride is stiff and bouncy, but when it is filled or a trailer is attached, such sensations subside.
The most expensive trims do a better job of isolating wind and road noise on the highway. The trucks we tested had solid and sensitive stop pedals, and their steering was controllable at low speeds and in tight locations where navigating larger versions may be challenging.
Towing and Payload Capacity
The 2026 Ford Super Duty has a maximum payload capacity of 8000 pounds and can tow up to 40,000 pounds with a gooseneck hitch, 35,000 with a fifth wheel layout, and 30,000 with a standard hitch arrangement. To handle all that weight, the company has outfitted the truck with a slew of trailering-assistance systems. Among them are onboard scales with Smart Hitch, which estimates cargo weight in real time and advises on trailer tongue-weight distribution. Trailer Navigation can also optimize travel routes depending on trailer size and weight.
Fuel Efficiency and Real-World MPG
Because the EPA does not test vehicles as hefty as the Super Duty and its formidable competitors, we evaluate them based on our own testing. On our 75-mph highway fuel-economy route, a 2023 Ford Super Duty F-250 SuperCrew 4×4 with the high-output Power Stroke diesel returned 20 mpg. We anticipate the Super Duty’s optional Power Stroke diesel to be the most fuel-efficient engine in the series.
Pricing and Which One Should You Buy?
The 2026 Ford Super Duty lineup maintains the same trim level structure as the outgoing model. We prefer the F-250 model with the large crew cab, standard 6.8-foot cargo bed, and single-rear-wheel axle. Paired with the mid-level Lariat trim, which we believe offers the best balance of creature amenities for the price.
To maximize its potential, we recommend the high-output Power Stroke diesel engine; it comes at a hefty premium, but if real towing and hauling are on the agenda, it’s difficult to match. Although the order books are open, pricing has yet to be released. We will update this area with official 2026 price as soon as it is available.
